Welcome in our house...
Kopparberg Huset is a grand holiday house, which is located on walking
distance from the centre of Kopparberg.
The house dates from 1890 and is built, following the Swedish tradition, from
wood, which is painted in the typical red colour.
Next to a grand kitchen, Kopparberg Huset also has a living room, dining room, bathroom and three bedrooms.
There's an original kakelugn (Swedish stove) in the living room, which has been placed there at the same moment as the house was built in 1890. The three bedrooms offer a sleeping place for a maximum of 6 adults. Next to that there's room to place 1 or 2 child's bedstead(s).
The bathroom has a shower and a sink with both hot and cold water.
The big garden (2240m²) offers a place where the sun can be enjoyed and the children can play safely. The fruit trees can possibly even make sure that, in the season, you'll have fresh fruit with your breakfast.
When you're looking for the peace and space of Sweden, or if you like to hike, cycle, canoe, fish, ski or play golf, than Kopparberg Huset is the ideal place for you.
The area of Kopparberg has a continental climate, which means that it has real cold winters with a lot of snow and night frost while the summers are warm and dry! Most people don't know that the summers are even warmer than those in Holland.
The environment is stunningly beautiful and offers a lot of possibilities to relax. The central location of Kopparberg makes it possible to go on a daytrip to for instance Stockholm or the nice city of Örebro.
All in all a stay in Kopparberg Huset makes sure that you'll have a different and successful holiday!
Kopparberg...
The former mining-town of Kopparberg lies in the community Ljusnarsberg and the province Västmanland and has a history that goes back to the 13/14th century when mineral was discovered in Kopparberg for the first time. Later in the 17th century, when new copper-stock was discovered, the town grew quickly. It is an interesting historical environment with well-preserved buildings, such as the "Tingshuset". It was first built as a Gruvstuga but later it became a courthouse, and now the local Tourist Information Office of Kopparberg is located in the "Tingshuset".
Besides the other beautiful wooden buildings, the church is known as one of the most beautiful of Mid-Sweden. A radical rebuilding between 1891 and 1892 gave the church its "middle age-Scandinavian" look.
Kopparstigen is a short hike alongside copper mines and other remains of the mining-industry which are located in the near surrounding of Kopparberg. Kopparberg also has a few museums: a goldsmith-museum , a mail-museum, a district-museum, a mining-museum and a shoemakers-museum.
In Kopparberg there are a big amount of different shops where you can get your groceries. If you like to, even by walking from the house. There are also a few restaurants where you can get a great meal if you would rather not cook for an evening.
You should not expect that Kopparberg has a bustling nightlife centre with discotheques or boulevards. Kopparberg has about 3300 inhabitants.
The surroundings…
The surrounding of Kopparberg is characterized for its alternating landscapes, such as big forests, beautiful lakes, mountain-like areas and landscapes which are dominated by agriculture.
A stunningly beautiful environment which can give enough possibilities for people looking for peace. Perhaps you can, with a bit of luck, even meet a peacefully grazing moose!
The western part of Västmanland, which is called Bergslagen, is a former mining- and industry area. Also here palaces and country houses arose from the Swedish nobility. Nevertheless, it is remarkable that the mining industry has enriched the environment. Old mines are flooded with water and make a romantic and wild impression. This is where you can find gold at the banks of the rivers. The area is also very attractive for fishermen, rowers and swimmers.
In Kopparberg self you can walk via the Kopparstigen a small hiking tour in which you will discover the old copper mines and other remains of the mining industry.
You'll also find the mountain Gillers Klack in Bergslagen where the environment is perfect for mountain bikers and it crosses the Bergslagsleden (a footpath of 280 km) with its wonderful surroundings. Along the road you will barely meet any other people so that you can fully enjoy the peace which Sweden has to offer you.
One of the lakes which is closest to Kopparberg is called Ljusnaren and is a very wide lake where there are great chances to swim, canoe or fish. You can make a nice walk around the lake on the 23 km long Ljusnarenrunt.
About 20 km to the North-East of Kopparberg one of Ljusnarberg's nature reserves is located , called Brattforsen. The reserve includes a few rapids and small waterfalls of the little river Nittälven. There are also shorter hiking trails in this reserve.
The Bergslags-rundan (partly in Västmanland) is recommended to be undertaken by bike. This is a bike trail which takes you along Lindesberg, Kopparberg, Hällefors and Nora with their many interesting and beautiful places.
